I Loved School

I Loved School is an animated short film that serves as a reaction against women's rights violations in Turkey. This artwork was inspired by the personal stories of women that I grew up around. The film aims to highlight the invisible systems of patriarchy and the cycle of oppression.

The narrative follows a primary school girl who is taken out of education and forced into an arranged marriage. During a class, she raises her hand to speak, but her voice is abruptly silenced. The classroom then begins to collapse around her, as though her childhood, education, and imagined future are falling apart at once.

The visual design reflects the surreal experience of a child being forced to conform to harsh societal gender roles at such a young age. Although the tactile boxes imprison the character and convey a darker narrative, the overall aesthetic remains bright and dreamlike, resembling a child's memory.
